General

I have the following types of security software installed:

Well, that about covers it for security related matters.

As to other things I need:

  • Setup file system encryption for my home directory.
  • Sort out regular simple backups of the hard drive
  • Relocate my keychain to something other than my Hard Drive (like a USB memory stick) if that is “usable”.
  • Configure tiki from the darwinports to run inside the apache instance I have.
  • Use Prelude to centrally “slurp up” all the reports being generated as both Samhain and snort supposedly can report to it natively.

Small Notes

ACLs

If you want ACLs available in Tiger (or presumably anything 10.4.x >) you need to enable it on a volume using fsaclctl and then you use ls -e to view them and chmod (+|-)a to create or delete them. Please read this apple article for information on ACL implementation, inheritance etc.

Spotlight

To use and fiddle with spotlight on the command line use the mdXXX tools such as mdfind and mdutil.
